Designed to compliment metolius’ bigger pads, the Launch Pad allows you to place your main crash pad under the crux and have another “sub” pad for the start or wherever else you need extra padding. It’s perfect for warming up when you don’t want to drag a big pad around or for bouldering missions where you know you won’t be falling repeatedly, but still want a bit of coverage. Features upholstery fabric tops for wiping shoes and dual carry straps which can be used to convert the Launch Pad to a comfy crag chair. To create the best possible landing zone, Metolius researched the foam combinations that would absorb the most energy. The open-cell foam is a great shock absorber, but by itself, it takes a very thick piece to keep from bottoming out. So they added a layer of firmer closed-cell foam on top to cut down on bulk and spread the force outward. New 45º angle cut on hinge virtually eliminates the gutter zone and the hinge itself makes it less bulky. . .
